Draw-to-image FAQ
What is this, exactly?
A live drawing canvas with a real image-generation AI attached. You sketch on the left with a brush; the AI repaints your sketch as a photorealistic image (or anime, oil painting, neon…) on the right — updating as you draw. It runs entirely in your browser on your own graphics card: no server, no account, no credits, no limits.
How is a real-time AI image generator free?
Because we don't run it — YOU do. The model (Stability AI's SD-Turbo) downloads to your browser once (~2.5 GB, cached) and then every image is generated by your own GPU. Our cost per image is zero, so your price is zero. Cloud tools charge because they're renting datacenter GPUs; we skip the datacenter entirely.
Is my drawing uploaded anywhere?
No. Nothing you draw or generate leaves your device — the AI lives in your browser. You can verify this in your browser's network tab: after the one-time model download, there's no traffic at all. It even works offline.
Why is there a ~2.5 GB download?
That's the AI itself — a full diffusion model. It downloads once from Hugging Face's CDN, gets cached by your browser, and starts instantly afterwards. We always show the size and ask before downloading. Use WiFi, and make sure you have a few GB of disk free.
What do I need to run it?
A browser with WebGPU (current Chrome or Edge is best) and a reasonably modern computer — the more GPU, the faster. On a gaming-class GPU an image takes a fraction of a second, so the canvas feels live; on a recent laptop it takes a second or two per repaint. The tool measures and shows your real speed — no fake claims.
How do I control how closely it follows my drawing?
The Faithful ↔ Creative slider. Faithful keeps your composition and colours and mostly adds realism; Creative lets the AI reinterpret the sketch more freely. Your text prompt tells it WHAT you're drawing — 'a red barn in a snowy field' — and the style chips set the look.
Can I record what I make?
Yes — hit “Record my session” and the tool captures a side-by-side video of your drawing and the AI's live repaint, then saves it as a video file. Perfect for sharing. (Everything is rendered locally; the recording never touches a server either.)
What resolution are the images?
512×512 — that's what this distilled real-time model produces natively, and we'd rather be honest than fake-upscale. You can download the PNG and run it through our free image resizer, or cut its background with the AI background remover.
Can I use the images commercially?
The images you make are yours to use. The underlying model is SD-Turbo under Stability AI's Community License (free for individuals and businesses under $1M revenue — that covers this site and virtually everyone using it). Attribution note: this tool is Powered by Stability AI.
Is this the same as Krea or Magnific?
Same idea — live AI painting over your sketch — different architecture. Those are excellent cloud products with subscriptions and credits; this runs 100% on your own hardware, which is why it can be free and unlimited and why your work stays private. On a strong GPU the experience is comparable; on a weak one, the cloud tools will be faster — we say so honestly.

Cloud canvases render on rented datacenter GPUs — great quality, but metered and logged. This runs on YOUR GPU: free, unlimited, private. On strong hardware the live feel is comparable; for maximum fidelity the paid tools still win.
