Compress a PNG

Make a big PNG much smaller

Shrink a heavy PNG in your browser. Because PNG is lossless, the biggest wins come from reducing the dimensions or converting to WebP/JPEG — this tool does both, and shows you the new file size before you download. Nothing uploaded.

Nothing uploaded

Your image is resized right in your browser — it never leaves your device, and nothing is stored. Total privacy.

Honest about PNG

PNG is lossless, so re-saving alone barely helps. Real savings come from smaller dimensions or WebP/JPEG — both one tap here, with the new size shown.

Free, no signup

No account, no watermark, no paywall, no limits. Resize as many images as you like.

How to do it

  1. 1Drop your PNG in.
  2. 2Reduce the max dimensions and/or switch the output to WebP or JPEG.
  3. 3Download — the file size is usually a fraction of the original.

FAQ

Why is my PNG so big?

PNG stores every pixel losslessly, which is great for sharp graphics but huge for photos. For photos, converting to JPEG or WebP shrinks the file dramatically.

How do I actually compress a PNG?

Reduce the dimensions (a 4000px PNG you only show at 800px is wasting space) and/or convert to WebP — both options are here, and you see the new size live.

Does it keep transparency?

If you keep PNG or choose WebP, yes. JPEG has no transparency, so a transparent area becomes a solid background.
